Kira :New York

Name: Kira
Date of Birth and/or Age: 20 Months
Current Location: New York

Brief Summary of the Situation:
EXPERIENCED GSD or SHILOH owner is a must!

Owners statement:

The best way to put it is that she is an Iron Man athlete, always on the go, always looking for people to do stuff with her, always active, and totally bored when she's not doing something. The humans in her household are more like painters or violinists, and we have large amounts of time where we sit still and don't seem to do anything (to her). She is bored senseless and we are simply not the right household for her.

She is smart and sassy and knows quite a lot. On the other hand, she does not walk on a leash and tries to jump through windows to get at anything that moves outside. Even a 220-pound man couldn't handle her on a leash.

She is a good eater (slow and steady) with no resource guarding. She is rock steady with loud noises (we played a full set of drums in the room with her and she didn't even react). She is crate trained and completely housebroken.

She can open every covered garbage can. She can get into rooms when the door is closed. She is a nibbler, which means she puts her mouth on you and suddenly you realize she's nibbling on your leg, or arm, or stomach.

In her previous household, she lived with four older children and an Aussie. The family decided she was way too rough for them to handle. We understand that.... she is very strong and doesn't take correction well. She does that growly, grumbly bark that's backtalk. If you point a finger at her, she'll try to nibble it.

She is not at all aggressive (unless you're a cat or squirrel or rabbit or anything small that moves). But when people come in the house, she's a jumper (in a friendly way, but still).

And even though she's 20 months old, she's very uncoordinated in a lot of ways. She has zoomies several times a day and doesn't know how to keep her legs together and is always banging into stuff and hurting herself. Two days before we adopted her, she jumped out of a window. Last week, she ran onto our deck so fast she couldn't stop and slammed into a step and couldn't put her rear leg down for two days.

We have been to the vet, and have current x-rays of her elbow. She has mild elbow dysplasia but the vet says no surgery is necessary now. She had her anal glands cleaned and it appears that may be an ongoing issue for her.

We don't want to force her to try to be something she's not. We would like to find a home for her where she can have a job, is occupied, and has a lot of room to run.

Even though she looks like a smoothie/plush combo, we discovered yesterday that her previous family shaved her. Feathers are coming in and her butt floofies are growing, as is her mane. She may turn out to be a plush.

We have complete vet records from her birth, which is 2/4/2018. She is spayed.

If you are interested in adopting Kira, please fill out our rescue application below.

Trinity :New York

Name: Trinity
Date of Birth and/or Age: 7mos
Current Location: New York

Brief Summary of the Situation:

“Trinity” is considered special needs due to Hip Dysplasia (see X-ray in photos).

Trinity is a 7 month old female Shiloh Shepherd-Loasian mix puppy (not spayed) who is in need of a new home.

Trinity is extremely loyal, super smart, very loving, sassy and sweet. She has personality and spunk, but is on her way to successfully being trained if continued on this path. She’s crate trained, walks well on a leash, outdoors potty trained, returns on command or whistled for. She’s a good girl and knows how to sit, place and stay.  Trinity also knows hand commands as well as takes verbal commands, gives paw, plays fetch, loves her belly rubbed and in general lives to please you.

As with big puppies, Trinity can be a handful at times. She needs a home with a firm hand and someone who will be the alpha otherwise she will take lead. Trinity should preferably be in a single dog home, preferably without children.  She currently is in a three dog home, however, unless you are prepared to monitor and consistently work with her as a puppy, she will resource guard. Not against humans, but she will resource guard you as her own and can get jealous over attention with other dogs.  Please note that Trinity has been professionally trained and is continuously trained on this, and as she is growing, is less assertive.

There are no issues with petting her while she eats or drinks, touching her food, even taking a bone from her, etc.

When out and about Trinity will be aggressive towards other dogs when she first meets them. She is always walked with a prong collar and there are no issues. She even comes shopping with me inside stores and is extremely well behaved. When walking outside, she will take cue on your behavior. If you are friendly, she will bark protectively and then be friendly with people if you tell her to be nice. For the most part, Trinity gets very excited to meet people and is a happy dog.

FYI- she is living with a blind toy female poodle and there are no issues at all.

As for rehoming, Trinity is an excellent dog. As she is a puppy, obviously she still need to learn a lot, but the foundation is all there. Quite frankly, I would not be looking to rehome her if I did not have to. Unfortunately she has been diagnosed with hip dysplasia by both vet and an orthopedic specialist. At this time, she does not have any issues running around, rough housing with other dogs, walking stairs, and absolutely loves to play outside. Trinity is currently not a candidate for surgery, and will not be so for another year or two according to the vets.

I do not have the ability to take care of Trinity because I am already dealing with a rescue Saint Bernard puppy who is in need of knee surgery (and his stomach being tacked) as well as a blind and diabetic toy poodle who has several issues too.  I am hoping that there is someone out there who has a big heart and lots of love for my girl. All she wants is to be is loved and hugged.

We are going to be very selective who this pup goes to. She got a bum start in life, but deserves nothing but the best. If you are interested in Trinity, or any of the other Shilohs in our Rescue~Rehome Program, please fill out this application to be considered. Thank you!

Grizz :Florida

Name: Grizz
Date of Birth and/or Age: 10yrs
Current Location: Ft Meyers, Florida
Brief Bio:
Due to his mobility difficulty, his owners want him to remain in Florida. They are concerned traveling will be too difficult for him.

Grizz is a 10yr old neutered male Shiloh Shepherd.

He is needing to be rehomed due to his owner joined the military and his family doesn’t have suitable housing arrangements for him. He is currently being kept on their Lanai because he has difficulty walking on the tile floors throughout their home. With the extreme Florida heat approaching us, they know this isn’t a safe option for him.

He needs to go to a home with no other dogs or cats.

If you are interested in providing this senior Shiloh a warm loving home for his final years, please fill out our adoption application.

Updates:
2/1/2019 : I went to meet him to evaluate his temperament. He was a super sweet VERY BIG boy! He loves to play with a ball. He would catch it and even flip it back to me to chase after. He also loved my 10yr old little friend I brought with me.

3/7/2019 Grizz is no longer available.

Tika :Washington

Image may contain: outdoor

Name: Tika (f)
Date of Birth and/or Age: 10yrs
Current Location: Lakewood, Washington

Brief Summary of the Situation:

Tika is still in need of a home. Ideally someone who would love to spend a lot of time with her and help her live out her remaining years. Tika (sable) and Tazer (white) were attempted to be rehomed together but it didn't work out, so please share with everyone you know that an aged, special needs female needs a loving home.

Tika was too nervous being in a larger pack. It seems that Tika would do best with someone who is retired, works from home or is home much of the time and with no other dogs or possibly one other dog (male or very submissive female). Tika was raised with cats, but will chase them if they run. Tika is super sweet, super intelligent and in great condition. She is playful and athletic for an aged female. Her owners will be leaving the country in November, 2018 and would like to find a home for her before they leave. Tika is 10 years old. She is on Pancreatin for EPI and the cost is $29 a month for the enzyme and needs daily eye drops. As you can see by the photos, Tika does quite well and is very filled out. Her rabies shots are current. She loves people (and children and babies included), although will will bark at strangers. If you are interested in adopting Tika, please let us know. Her owner lives in Lakewood, Washington.

Contact LKRUNNER @ Yahoo.com (without spaces) and I will contact you within a few hours. I am Tika's breeder and helping the owner find a home for her.

Updates:
as of 9/30/2018 Tika is still available.
10/18/2018 Tika was placed in trial home and on vet visit was diagnosed with advanced Lymphoma; will be PTS

Bella, New Jersey

Name: Bella & Luke
Current Location: New Jersey
Brief Summary of the Situation:
courtesy post for Associated Humane Popcorn Shelter

Bella and Luke are still waiting for that special someone to come along and give them the very special home that they need but in the meantime, they are just loving life as Share-A-Pets in our Animal Haven Farm. If you can't adopt these two sweethearts, you can sponsor them and become their part-time pet parents! You can read all about Bella and Luke below and please click here to learn all about sponsoring the happy couple: http://www.ahscares.org/shop/item.asp…

Bella, an 8 year old shepherd, and Luke, a 6 year old lab, came to us when their owner lost their home. They were quite heartbroken, but at least they still had each other. Since Bella and Luke were not spayed and neutered when they arrived, our vet went about performing the routine procedures on them. Unfortunately, she found a problem with Bella. Several mammary masses were found on Bella and removed but sadly, they were malignant. This sweet and gentle lady has cancer. The cancer does not require treatment, and may not have any drastic affect on her anytime soon, but it's there, and it now makes it even more difficult for her and her best buddy Luke to find a home. Bella could have 6 months or she could have 6 years, we don't know. But she should live out the rest of her life in a loving home with her pal Luke. Bella is sweet, calm and gentle, while Luke is equally sweet, but more active and playful than his friend. They are so well behaved and get along great with everyone they meet. They will both win you over instantly with their warm, loving personalities, and bring so much joy into your life. If you can offer Bella and Luke the very special home that they are hoping for, please come in and meet them anytime.
